Firefight is a real-time WWII simulation game with more AI and attention to detail than any other game in its genre to date. The tanks are modeled with a physical engine and have gears, tachometers and speedometers, and move with brake levers to give them realistic-looking tracked-vehicle movement. Each bullet, projectile or shrapnel is modeled in 3D and realistically ricochets off slanted surfaces. You can see each infantryman’s rank, name, weapon, remaining ammo, heart rate, and fatigue levels. Machine guns will call for ammo when they are low and other squad members will come with spare ammo if they are carrying any. Wounded men call doctors who will rush to administer first aid. Off-board artillery can be called up, but you’ll have to fire several ranged shots before the full battery of 8 guns fires simultaneously.
