Drift in Car is a drift game in which the driver intentionally oversteers, with loss of traction, while maintaining control and driving the car through the entire corner. This drift sensation is not to be confused with four-wheel drift, a classic cornering technique established in Grand Prix and sports car racing.
Drifting competitions were first popularized in Japan in the 1970s. Drifting competitions are held all over the world and are judged according to speed, angle, charisma and line traveled by a turn or set of turns.
One of the first recorded drift events outside of Japan took place in 1996 at Willow Springs Raceway.
Drifting has evolved into a competitive sport where drivers compete (almost exclusively in rear-wheel drive cars) to earn points from judges based on a number of factors.
